Thank you for visiting our website. We hope the information available here will be useful to existing families, and to those who are looking to bring their children to Barnby & North Cove Primary School and Nursery.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Barnby and North Cove Primary. Children from all classes were selected to help with the decorating of the tree! They did a fantastic job! Simon Lea Academy Head

Two cheeky elves appeared in Hazel class this week. The children have created an elf diary to record what they get up to and the wonderful conversations the children are having. We can't wait to see what the elves get up to next week. In Hazel class we have been creating Christmas decorations in our fine motor sessions. We found these fiddly to make, but we all persevered and supported each other

In chestnut class, we have been focused on a key question: what is the most effective way to save the islander? We have learned about buoyancy, waterproof materials and the necessary tools you need to build a raft. We conducted an investigation to test the durability and strength of our raft designs, by placing the raft in water and seeing how many islanders (coins) it could hold.

Our Sports Equipment arrived last week from our Great Athletes Event - the children are really looking forward to using all of it! Thank you again for your sponsorship money!

Our school has a Christmas Tree at this event - we based our tree on 'Walking in a Winter Wonderland'. All of the pupils have used their footprints to create unique hanging decorations for the tree. Mrs Bramwell has been instrumental in organising this event - Thank you to her for all of her efforts!

Engages with debate, Being a Respectful Active Citizen, Participation and Responsibility were the learning characteristics shown at the first Trust Pupil Parliament meeting last week. We met up with other Trust schools to discuss the new focus "Understanding Biodiversity and what we can do to support this in our schools". Our new Pupil Parliament already have ideas around this. Over the next few weeks they will be creating a PowerPoint about this to share with our pupils in assembly, before putting their ideas into motion. It was lovely to see them confidently sharing their thoughts and ideas about Biodiversity with the other adults and pupils from our other schools.
